Tensions Increasing in Idlib As US-Backed White Helmets Accused of Staging Chemical Attack

As tensions increase in Idlib, Russia is now accusing the White Helmets of using orphans to film videos simulating a chemical attack to be blamed on the Syrian government.

It started with the claim that a false flag chemical attack was in the works, and Russia is now warning that the White Helmets are in the process of staging videos of the aftermath of a chemical attack.

The latest statement from the Russian Defense Ministry claims TV crews from the Middle East and the United States are filming staged videos that will be used to blame the Syrian government for a chemical attack targeting civilians. They claim that that the videos will show members of the US-backed White Helmets helping residents who have just been attacked by members of the Syrian army.

The problem is that the videos are staged with orphans reportedly being used as actors, and the United States has already warned that it is ready to strike if it receives any reports of a chemical attack.

Just so there is no confusion here—if the Syrian regime uses chemical weapons, we will respond very strongly,” John Bolton said.

We have all seen what the Syrian Regime—backed by the Russian government—has done in the past, so it should not be a surprise to anyone that that would be a concern of ours once again,” Heather Nauert said.

For more insight on the possibility of a false flag chemical attack in Idlib, I was joined earlier by former Pentagon official Michael Maloof.

What’s emerging is a Trump foreign policy and a Trump Administration foreign policy, and who is in charge?” Maloof said. “The question is going to be, if we go into Idlib, it’s going to show that the neoconservatives won out, and they basically have made Donald Trump dance to their tune and it will show that he is not in control of his own foreign policy.”

Russia has also recently accused the U.S. of launching airstrikes in Syria that contained chemicals banned under international law, and the U.S. has denied the allegations.

If videos are released that appear to show the aftermath of a chemical attack in Syria, and the United States follows through on its threats and attacks the Syrian government before an investigation can be completed, it could result in severe global consequences.
