Tulsi Gabbard Sues Hillary Clinton For Defamation Over 'Russian Asset' Claims

Congresswomen Tulsi Gabbard has filed a lawsuit against former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, arguing that Clinton is guilty of defamation for calling Gabbard a “Russian asset.” But this is not the only feud Clinton seems to be getting into with the current Democratic candidates for President…

Tulsi Gabbard has filed a defamation lawsuit alleging that Hillary Clinton publicly lied about Gabbard’s character with obvious malicious intent. Gabbard points to a podcast interview from October 17, 2019, in which Clinton said there was someone in the Democratic primary who Trump and the GOP are grooming to be a third-party spoiler candidate.

She’s the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far. And, that’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not because she’s also a Russian asset. Yeah, she’s a Russian asset,” Clinton said.

Now, Clinton did not say Gabbard’s name directly, but when asked about whether she was referring to Gabbard, the lawsuit notes that a representative for Clinton responded, “If the nesting doll fits. This is not some outlandish claim. This is reality.

Gabbard is suing for at least $50 million dollars in monetary damages, and she claims that she only turned to this route after asking Clinton to walk back her claims. In the lawsuit Gabbard also said this is about much more than just taking on Hillary Clinton, noting that “With this action, Tulsi seeks to hold Clinton, and the political elites who enable her, accountable for distorting the truth in the middle of a critical Presidential election.”

Gabbard is also calling for the court to bar Clinton from making similar accusations and statements about Gabbard moving forward.

Clinton is also the focus of a new documentary in which she claims nothing is off-limits about her life, and in it, she calls Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders a “career politician” and says that “nobody likes him.”

Her comments went viral, igniting a firestorm of people on social media who insisted that they do, in fact, like Sanders. And in response, he said, “On a good day, my wife likes me.”

Clinton has yet to confirm that she is not running in the 2020 election, but her latest jabs at Gabbard and Sanders are notable, because there are two candidates in the Democratic field who have consistently been anti-war, and who have been critical of Hillary Clinton foreign’s policy record during her time as secretary of state.
