The FBI is now warning of armed protests at State Capitols in all 50 states ahead of the Inauguration, claiming the goal is to present an “uprising” if Democrats are successful in attempts to remove Trump from office before his term ends…
Reports are now saying the FBI is expecting armed protests at State Capitols in all 50 states, beginning Saturday and leading up to President-Elect Biden’s Inauguration. They are calling for law enforcement to be on high alert, and we’re already seeing increased security here in Washington, DC, where the FBI claims government offices will be a main target.
Less than one week after thousands of Trump supporters took to the streets of DC, the chief of Capitol Police who has since resigned, now says there were attempts made to stop Wednesday’s riots before they turned deadly. Steven Sund claims he requested assistance from the National Guard six times “ahead of and during the attack on the Capitol.” But each of those requests was “denied or delayed.”
It wasn’t until hours later that troops arrived, and they remain even now as the FBI warns that there is much more to come. According to an internal memo, the FBI claims there is a group calling for ‘storming’ state, local and federal government courthouses and administrative buildings, in the event President Trump is removed from office before his term ends.
With the next presidential inauguration just days away, tensions are high here in the Nation’s Capital. The police presence has already increased significantly from what we saw just a week ago. All around the Capitol building behind me, you can see there are already barriers, fences set up, hoping to prevent what we saw last week. The National Guard has also promised to have at least 10,000 troops on the ground. They are saying they want to have a strong presence for when those protests do come to town. Everyone is still watching and waiting to see what they will look like, and how it will have an impact on Inauguration Day.
Meanwhile, the FBI is still searching for suspects — relying heavily on social media and asking for the public’s help to locate those who “made unlawful entry into the US Capitol” and “assaulted federal law enforcement.” The Philadelphia Police Department also says it is investigating whether one of its detectives was among the suspects who broke into the US Capitol, as reports have surfaced revealing that off-duty police officers were among the suspects.
Now it remains to be seen how the upcoming demonstrations will unfold, and how the continued attempts by Democrats to remove Trump from office before his term ends will impact the tensions on the ground.
